What's Going To Happen To "The Oprah Effect" When She Leaves?

Is there anyone else on the air right now that can do what Oprah has done for so many people over the years? I guess the better question is, who can match Oprah Winfrey?

Oprah Winfrey has single handedly revolutionized the lives of countless men and women just by mentioning their product or service on her show. It’s what CNBC has cloaked, “The Oprah Effect.” Some people have characterized this as the Midas-touch ~ everything she touches turns to gold. And that is not far from the truth.

I’ve attached the entire segment for you to see.

Business Week connected with 11 businesses whose lives were completely changed once Oprah called them herself and later endorsed their product. And let’s not forget the guy whose book Oprah endorsed, he made millions and later it was discovered that his entire story was a hoax. Hmmm! She had him back on the show to rip him a new hole – too late. He was already singing, “Cha-ching.” Whether his book sold another copy or not, he had made a ton of money and most likely went frolicking along his merry way. And the crazy thing is, once she gets a hold of your goods, you better not be caught with your pants on the ground – translation – you’d better have all of your product ready to go because it’s a tsunami blessing that will follow her endorsement. And if you’re not in a position to fill the need…shame on you. Talk about, “My cup runneth over.”

The Oprah Effect?! How did this Black woman from the South, become such a phenomenon? I’d love to hear what you think it might be. I mean…let’s face it, this is a woman who has publicly battled her weight, admitted to childhood violations and has allowed us to see her in some pretty raw and candid moments. She isn’t the supermodel type, yet people have gravitated to her and hold on for dear life.

What is it about Oprah that has kept people glued to their tubes like fiends every day of the week — coveting the entry ticket to an audience taping and hoping that THIS is the show of her “Favorite Things?”
Why is it that “it” isn’t a fact UNLESS Oprah says it is so?
If you knew you were going to be on the Oprah show and you didn’t have the money to fill the orders that would inevitably come from the endorsement of your product, what would you do?

Oprah is a machine in an of herself. I am really curious about what is going to happen to The Oprah Effect when the show is off the air. Does it follow her to the Sirius listeners? Do we now dive into “O Magazine” in hopes of knowing what she is thinking? Or does the “Effect” wear off once she says a final goodbye on ABC? Will it be some out of sight out of mind theory that most would adopt?
