Cissy Houston talked to My9 on Thursday night for an interview set to air Monday. The interview took place at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J., where Whitney first wowed a congregation as a girl and where her funeral was held Feb. 18.
Here are some key statements from the interview airing Monday:
On if she had any regrets about the way her daughter was raised: “I know I did the best I could. I don’t blame myself. I know I did the best I could for everything.”
On the media coverage Whitney’s death: “They think they know everything. These people don’t know anything about her. The media doesn’t know what they are talking about….Whitney did not die broke. She’s not broke. She’s not anything … None of that crap.”
On how she’s doing since her daughter’s death: “I have my moments … I’m not there yet. I am a true believer in God. There’s nothing I can do about it. There’s nothing nobody else can do about it. If I thought I could so something to bring her back, that’s exactly what I’d do, but I know that’s impossible.”
