Alexis Spight Up Close: Dad Thank You!

http://elev8.com/I’m sort of a daddy’s girl (smile); I mean, you would be too if you were me. My daddy taught me how to tie my shoes, my daddy taught me how to color, my daddy taught me how to sing, and more recently, my daddy taught me how to drive! (big smile) My father raised me to be a woman of faith, integrity, and virtuosity. He instilled morals in me… Standards. He taught me to be a leader, and He lead by example. The confidence I have in my uniqueness today, illuminates because of the support of my dad. There are so many moments I pause and cognitively say: “I don’t know what I would do without my dad”.

This makes me  wonder, what it feels not to have a dad. I wonder about the effects.  Sometimes we overlook just how important Fathers are. Fathers are essential in a child’s life. Past research has shown that a father’s involvement with his child is linked to a variety of beneficial outcomes, stemming from higher academic achievement, improved social and emotional health, to lower incidences of delinquency, risk taking, and other problem behaviors.

Fathers teach specific characteristics to their children, and without these simple traits, a child’s life can truly be turned upside down by the time they reach adulthood. It’s been proven that fatherless children are vulnerable to mental and emotional problems, teen pregnancy, and drug/ substance abuse. Furthermore, it’s sagacious to conclude, Daddy’s make the world a better place !(smile) Unfortunately, not every child can attest to the joys of a present father, but Gratefully so, Acts 17:28 says that we are God’s offspring; 1 John 3 :1 says “See how very much our Father loves us, for He calls us His children, and that is what we are!” And the lovely part about God is that even when our Father and Mother forsakes us, HE will take care of us! He said in Matthew 7:11 that He offers us more than our earthly father ever could! What a mighty God we serve. Happy Father’s Day to all of the fathers! Especially my daddy L. Allen Spight Jr., and Happy Father’s Day to God our Father!!!
