You Don’t Have To Be The Brightest Crayon In The Box
If you are reading my blog, there is a really good chance that deep inside, you desire to be exceptional, to be great at something. You know that you have the potential and talent to be excellent, and there is a voice inside of you that is whispering or yelling: “Now is the time to take action!”
Do you have another voice inside of you asking, “How is this different from all the times that I have decided to make a change in my life?” I always talk big game, but when it come right down to it, I plan more that I get done?
Are you struggling with having more starts than finishes and need a boost of motivation and techniques that will help you over come the hurdles to achieving your goals?
This week I wanted to give you some questions and thoughts to ponder. I have already given you the questions above to challenge you, to continue to keep moving on this journey of success.
Here’s what I want you to ponder and study. Find someone that you know and admire that is successful. For example: Ray Kroc, founder of McDonald’s; Howard Schultz, founder of Starbucks, Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft to name a few. There are a lot more to name but you get my drift. Study their lives, find out what obstacles they faced, how did they overcame the situation and what drove them to become successful. Really spend some time examining their lives until you become an expert and can their use insights to push you over the finish line.
I am a huge fan of the show Biography, it allows me to get a glimpse of what makes certain history makers successful, like the ones that I name above. I came to the following revelation while watching one of these shows. I noticed that all of these individuals have the following common traits:
You don’t have to be the brightest crayon in the box: They all confess that they are not the smartest or brightest. We often think that we have to be extremely smart or need to have the right credentials or letters behind our name. All you need is to have is vision. In almost all of these cases their was no road map or trail blazed before them their plan or goal was to simply to keep their eyes on their target and keep moving until they reached their destination.
If it has not been done, that doesn’t mean that it can not be done: They all confess or knew that they were serving an unmet need in the market place. We sometimes get stuck or paralyze in our success journey because we are trying to convince others to see our vision. They problem with that mentality is that they do not have the vision! God gave you the vision to you. Also, I have found that people do not like change. It is easier for the establishment to dismiss your vision because it has not been done, remember the heros of faith in the bible Noah, Abraham and Joseph. The problem with that mentality is that if these history makers on the show Biography would have put on the brakes there would be no McDonald’s, Oprah Winfrey Show, Starbucks or Microsoft. My charge to you is to be fully persuaded that your vision will meet an unmet need in the market place and accomplish what the vision intends. If you keep moving your persistence and tenacity will push all those haters and critics then people will say to what did we ever do without that invention, product or store etc.
If there is a wall go around, over, through it or under it: They all confessed that they did not let a “no” keep them from moving forward, they keep going in spite of their circumstances, hurdles and obstacles. Here is my advice to you walls and obstructions can come down or be blown up. There is an old saying to use these stumbling blocks as stepping stones. I would encourage you to change your perspective and let their “no” be your “yes”.
My goal for today by asking you the question ‘Is This For You?” and by giving you the examples above was to show you that the answer is simply, “Yes!” You have what it takes, all of us have a unique purpose. It is a blueprint that God designed specifically for you to fulfill.
The Challenge: This week take action by answering the questions that I listed above and find a successful person that you can study and imitate.
It is my deepest desire that you become good stewards all areas of your life: Time, Talent and Treasures and ultimately “Become a Better You”.

I truly agree with this article. It’s kind of funny because I follow the same philosophy that is “not everyone has to be bright to succeed”. but I have a 2 different views. I’m guessing I have double standards sometimes about my ideologies. But great article. I should put these ideas into full effect.
