Michael Jackson: To Be Or Not To Be Worshiped?

By Ingrid Michelle June 28, 2009 12:56 pm

When I was a little girl, you couldn’t tell me that I wasn’t Michael Jackson’s girlfriend.  I just knew I’d know him and at the very least I knew I’d meet him.  I just had to.  I mean, you couldn’t love someone that much and never get to meet him right?  Hmph!  I’m sure I’m not unlike any other hopeful with posters strewn across the walls – with barely visible paint, every album he produced in my cache, crying while watching him on television, desperate to see him perform live, sitting out in front of his Encino home waiting with baited breath to see something – anything that resembled a shoe string or even a sibling.  That would have sufficed.  He consumed every part of me.  He is what I thought about when I woke up, he was who I saw before I went to bed.  I talked about him as if we were familiar with one another.  I defended him and maybe even lost a friend or two because of my stance.  This thing was pretty intense.  Every day I would come home, do my homework and commence to practicing video routines for hours as if I were awaiting a call to spontaneously perform with him.  Yeah, I had it bad.  For all intents and purposes, I worshipped Michael Jackson.

Many years would go by and although my love for his creativity didn’t change, the obsession lessened – tremendously.  There appeared more important things in life than to memorize the kick-ball-chain move in his latest hit video and I wasn’t as interested in his day-to-day goings on.   Those minute detail would prove very instrumental for what was to come.

1993 was my last year of college.  I was performing a great deal with a few of my sorority sisters and members of other fraternal organizations on a more professionally organized step team.  As we so routinely did, we practiced extremely hard for a variety of events, televised and local.  One day we got a call to meet the team at Sony Studios.  There was something deep within us that assumed it was to meet Michael Jackson.  We knew he was in town.  We knew he was at Sony.  We knew that he was preparing for a few things while here and we also knew that we were in training for something that we hadn’t yet been made privy.  It had to be!  When we drove up to the security gate, we were given wrist bands that read the name “Michael Jackson.”  Everything in me wanted to scream, but I contained myself for fear that they would prevent me from entering the facility.  It was true!  We had been chosen to perform with Michael Jackson in an upcoming video for the Addams Family II movie.  A dream had come true.

The first day, we anxiously awaited Michael’s arrival for about six hours before the staff came in to tell us what we had been chosen to do and began fitting us for wardrobe.  We all minimized our deepest childhood yelp, even the men, for a controlled smile and a polite, “Thank you.”  We flipped through the clothing and I can remember cupping my hands over my mouth and screaming.  I had to get it out.   That day, we left without meeting the king of Pop.  It wasn’t until the next day that we would actually meet him and to subsequently begin a grueling schedule of practices in the heat of the day.  It was incredible.  I couldn’t believe this moment.  I didn’t want it to end.  We had trailers, were being treated like celebrities with hair and makeup and dancing with THE incomparable – Michael Jackson.  It couldn’t get more real.

Well…God quickly put things into perspective.  This man, this human being, was simply that, a fallen man like all of us who was not above reproach.  He was one who had made some careless choices that, be they true or not, led him into a sea of public scrutiny.  Michael Jackson was under investigation and everything that we had accomplished was on hold until further notice.  I couldn’t believe it.  He was being accused of pedophilia.  What?  Not my Michael Jackson.  Not the one whom I had come to love and mature in relationship with – in my mind.  Not this person.

Needless to say, midstream our production came to a halt.  We were later instructed to get a passport to take the production to Asia but he was prevented from leaving the country.  It was over.  The dream, though short lived, was fulfilled.   I finally got a chance to meet my Michael, on the side of humanity.

That experience put things in check for me.

That same year, 1993, I cried out to the Lord for intimacy with him unlike that which I’d ever experienced.  Michael Jackson helped me realize the need for God like never before.  I saw how quickly it is that when things are placed before the Lord, idols – anything that consumes you more than Him, your entire world can come to a crashing halt UNTIL your attention is completely reverted back to Him.  He is a jealous God and will not compete with anything or anyone for that matter.  There will be no other idols placed before him.  Michael Jackson had consumed my thoughts for years and God used his downfall to remind me that my love for Him had to take precedence.

I was made aware that in the recent weeks, Michael Jackson accepted the Lord Jesus into his heart as Lord and Savior.  I was elated.  Isn’t it ironic that the king of Pop realized the need for the King of Kings?  It seems that his decision to embrace Christ was birthed out of an acute awareness that nothing in his life is worth anything without being a child of the King.  Having this knowledge makes his death a little easier for me.  He was so highly worshiped around the world, yet he saw the need to worship One that trumps every celebrity.  Although still sad, I now know that he is performing in the heavenly concert above.  Thank you Jesus for showing both me and Michael who we ought to worship!   You alone are worthy!!

I THANK GOD I KNOW HIM, BECAUSE IF I HAD NOT KNOWN THE SAVIOR AND HIS POWER OVER ANYTHING THIS WORLD COULD GIVE. I TOO WOULD BE SWEPT UP WITH GREAT INTIMACY FOR MICHAEL JACKSON! I MUST SAY MICHAEL WAS TRULY A PERSON THAT DREW THE WORLD TO HIS WAY OF LIFE! I WONDER IF MICHAEL REALIZE OR INTEND TO DRAW SUCH FOLLOWERS! I BELIEVE MICHAEL WAS A VERY LOVING AND CARING PERSON, BUT NO ONE OR NOBODY CAN SHOW LOVE LIKE JESUS CAN!! THERE IS NOT GREATER LOVE THEN HIS! I LOVED MICHAEL TOO, BUT NEVER NEVER EVER AS MUCH AS I WORSHIP AND LOVE JESUS CHRIST! NOW I CAN SAY WHEN MAN IS NOT THERE JESUS WILL ALWAYS BE THERE AND MY HEART WILL NOT BE TORN APART FROM LOSING HIM! I WILL BE WITH HIM IN ETERNITY!!

Mz Jackson I agree w/ you, it seems we cannot talk about the Lord. Just let say to anyone–I didn’t worship Micheal, but I love his and his music. Beautiful, talented performer. I never thought (and still don’t) that he harmed anyone–anyone. Micheal changing his appearance never bothered me either. His physical appearance didn’t make up his soul. The man seemed so very kind. I will forever miss him. I pray he is at rest with our awesome Lord. God bless MJ’s family and loved ones, give them comfort in this sad time. We loved MJ.

This is a nice article. But let me put something on your minds like my husband did me Monday morning before leaving for work. We watch the News every morning && so we was looking at all the so call die hard fans of Micheal Jackson crying && celebrating in the streets everywhere. And he said “THE LORD IS WATCHING THOSE PEOPLE CARRYING ON LIKE THAT, I WONDER WILL THEY CARRY ON LIKE THAT WHEN HE(THE LORD) COME AGAIN”?! So you know you can’t talk about The Lord to everyone because they say things like “OH YOU SO HOLY”, or “YOU ACT LIKE YOU THE ONLY ONE THAT KNOWS THE LORD” && this one just kills me “IF I WANT TO HEAR SOMEONE PREACH I’LL GO TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY”! But Micheal is not worshipped he’s just loved by many. Like I stated earlier(so call die hard fans). It’s funny how everybody love Micheal so much now but when he was being accused && started acting weird everybody wasn’t supporting him. I say if you was a true fan back in the days you shouldn’t let nothing or nobody change how you felt about Micheal. R.I.P Micheal Jackson you will never be forgotten. My prayers goes out to the entire Jackson family. God Bless && be with the kids.

“Only God Knows If Michael Jackson In His Private Moments Of Life Accepted Jesus As LORD And SAVIOUR” But My Advice To You Is: “Do It Openly Today”

“Our Bodies Are Like Time Bombs,
We Never Know When They Will Explode, Although We Can Sometimes Appear So Healthy”

John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. King James Version

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. King James Version

    John 3:1-7
3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
    King James Version

    • Jackson reached out to Gospel artist Andrae Crouch and minister sister in final days

    • “Andrae and Sandra did in fact visit with Michael Jackson two times, once at the recording studio, and once at his home in the last two months, as recently as three weeks ago, asking for prayer concerning the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and how he could make his music more ‘spiritual,’” noted Crouch’s Facebook administrator.
    • “So Andrae and Sandra explained to him about the anointing and about Jesus. He wanted to know what makes your hands go up, and makes you ‘come out of yourself,’ and what gives a ‘spirituality’ to the music? He then requested to hear his favorite song that he loves and wanted then to sing to him, so they…joined hands and sang together, and he said, ‘it was beautiful.’ He first heard it in New York, and loved it and wanted it on tape. He had the engineer tape the song sang to him by Andrae and Sandra. He definitely had an encounter with them.”
    • As to whether or not the legendary singer had prayed to receive Christ, through his spokesman Crouch responded: “He did NOT reject Jesus or the prayer when (we) prayed, and gladly joined in prayer.”

    NICODEMUS
Nicodemus was a wealthy, educated and powerful man-well respected by his people and a descendant of the patriarch Abraham. Yet Jesus said to him, “You must be born again” (John 3:7). The Greek adverb translated again can also mean “from the beginning” (suggesting a new creation) and “from above” (that is, from God). In other words Jesus told Nicodemus that physical generation was not enough, nor could his descent from the line of Abraham enable him to be saved. Only as a person has a spiritual generation-a birth from above-will he be able to see the kingdom of God.

The next time Nicodemus appears in the Gospel of John, he shows a cautious, guarded sympathy with Jesus. When the Sanhedrin began to denounce Jesus as a false prophet, Nicodemus counseled the court by saying, “Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?” (John 7:51).

Nicodemus appears a third and final time in the Gospel of John. Obviously a wealthy man, he purchased about a hundred pounds of spices to be placed between the folds of the cloth in which Jesus was buried (John 19:39). Nothing else is known of Nicodemus from the Bible. But there is reason to believe that he became a follower of Jesus.

when people say worship that doesnt mean they put him before GOD, it just simply means that had a strong love for who he was a person, and what he did for the world both in and ut of his music

michael jackson will always be the king of pop. i am thankful to have been blessed to see his many talents. there will never be another michael jackson… ever. the only thing about this situation that pisses me off is where was all the love when michael jackson was still alive? it is a shame that we tend not to tell people how special or amazing they are when they are alive, but once they have passed on to a better place people come out of the woodwork to say all the things they should have said when that person was alive. my condolences go out to his family. r.i.p michael you will be greatly missed.

I totally agree with 777. Any Christian should know better than to suggest worshipping anyone other than God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

There have been so many questions of this nature asked since Michael’s death. However, I would just like to ask this one question: WHERE WERE ALL THESE PEOPLE WHEN MICHAEL WAS GOING THROUGH ALL HIS TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS????

HOW COULD SOMEONE EVEN THINK OF WORSHIPING ANOTHER SINFUL HUMAN BEING. THERE’S ONLY ONE MAN THAT DIED FOR ME (US) AND HIS NAME IS JESUS CHRIST, HE’S PERFECT AND SITS ON THE RIGHT HAND THRONE OF THE FATHER.
I’m sorry about what happen to Michael but there are millions of children dying, people rapped and killed, gangs, violence, selling children off to predators for money, all this evil going on in the world and this is who you guys are talking about worshiping? WOW THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END.

The loss of Michael Joseph Jackson is a tragic blow to the entertainment industry, but he is NOT God. We will miss him, but anyone that thinks he, or anyone else for that matter deserves to be worshipped, needs to realize that Michael was no more or no less flesh-and-blood than we are and cannot be given deity status. God IS a jealous God and NO ONE is worthy of His Glory.
