VIDEO: Rihanna Finally Speaks Out About Assault
(CNN) — For women dealing with domestic violence, singer Rihanna has a bit of advice: “Forget about love.”
“Come out of the situation and look at it for what it really is,” she advised during an interview on “Good Morning America” on Thursday. “Love is so blind.”
Yes, that wall of silence Rihanna built after being beaten in February by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown has finally crumbled.
Her refusal to speak about what happened the night before the Grammy Awards in February — a leaked photo later revealed Rihanna had been shockingly battered — was out of shame, she told Diane Sawyer on “Good Morning America.”
“There are a lot of women who experienced what I did, but not in the public, so [that] made it really difficult,” she said. “I just thought ‘Oh my God,’ here goes my little bit of privacy. Nobody wants anybody to know, and here I am, the whole world knowing.”
That photo, allegedly distributed by two Los Angeles Police Department officers, made a bad situation worse, she told Glamour magazine.
“It was humiliating; that is not a photo you would show to anybody,” the songstress said. “I felt completely taken advantage of. I felt like people were making it into a fun topic on the Internet, and it’s my life. I was disappointed, especially when I found out the photo was [supposedly leaked by] two women.”

Ok, guess i get to play Devil’s Advocate. First off let me say that i don’t condone what CB did. Second of all I’m not trying to generalize but this is just my experience. I’m 34y/o, and in my life i’ve dated alot. Four of the women I’ve dated were of Caribbean descent 2 Jamaican, 1 from Barbados, and 1 from St. Luca. There thing I noticed they all had in common (and again I’m not generalizing, this is my experience), was being overly aggressive. Blkpuddn said to be the bigger person and walk away? Tried that. It worked, once (for the record, the woman i dated from St. Luca never got into a physical altercation with me because she was to last of the four I dated and I’d learned to see the signs before it got to that point. Now I just can’t fathom raising my closed fist to a beautiful blk woman (or any woman for that matter)in anger. But I’m not going to just let woman, man or alien put there hands on me either. The Bajan female I dated even had the gall to ask me what I’d do if we ever got into a heated argument and she blocked the door to keep me from leaving. Real talk! She already knew how she was. Now I’m sure u all are saying, “stupid, u should have left her tail then!” and you would be right. I’d probably still have my Acura, if I had. Anyway to make a long story short, I won’t hit a female but there are other ways to incapacitate a person without striking them. Fellas and women recognize you situation when it arises. Because I’m living testimony that the cops aren’t trying to hear about a man getting beat on by a female. Mainly because its supposedly so rare. But maybe if more of us would start reporting it we would start getting a more positive response. Because other than that we don’t really have much in the way of options in that sort of situation. I don’t know Rihannas situation, I hope everything works out with both her and CB, but there are alway three sides to a story.
