Quick Steps To Help: If You Are Facing Foreclosure
Quick Steps to Help: If You Are Facing Foreclosure
I was listening to the radio the other day when I heard a commentator mention that we need to brace ourselves because there will be another wave of foreclosures due to interest rates that are scheduled to reset in the next coming months. This looming fact reminded me that we still have a long way to go before we get out of this financial mess. As I watch the news or talk to family and friends I am realizing daily that we have not scratched the surface in discovering the impact of this financial crisis. The good news is that there are programs and resources out there that can help you if you need assistance.
I thought it might be helpful to provide you with some tactics just in case you are faced with this situation.
Do Something: Doing nothing to save your home is the worst mistake you can make. The pressure of facing foreclosure can push you into closing your eyes and letting the foreclosure process run it’s course. Saving your home from foreclosure should be your top priority, don’t ignore it.
Take action now: If you’re in financial trouble and can’t pay your mortgage, don’t wait to call or go get help. There are program and resources that are available to help you save your home. Contact a local non profit or government affiliated agency whose objective is to help homeowners at risk. The sooner you call, the sooner they’ll be able to help you—or at least steer you in the right direction.
Proceed with caution: When we are in faced with financial difficulties we become desperate which results in making bad choices. If you do not remember anything else from this lesson today.
Remember this, HELP IS FREE! If you need assistance contact your local non-profit or government affiliated agency for guidance. AVOID any firms or individuals that asks you pay in advance for counseling or a loan modification; or says they can guarantee a loan modification; or try to pressure you to sign over the deed to your property. Only your mortgage company can guarantee a loan modification and never make a mortgage payment to anyone other than your mortgage company without their approval.
I hope this information has been helpful. Please check back next week as we continue our financial journey.
It is my desire that you are inspired to be a good steward over these three areas of your life: Time, Talent, Treasure. Time, you must learn to manage your time; talent you have skills and gifts and lastly treasure, your finances need to managed appropriately. All of these areas work together; when they are managed properly you will be able to become A BETTER YOU!

I work with the Los Angeles Neighborhood housing they can be reached at http://www.lanhs.org or 1-888-89-LANHS or 1-888-895-2647. This is a very difficult process working with the lenders the process used to take 90 days now many cases are taking up to a year. NACA and other organizations are busy we notice that people have more success going to an event with the lenders present. I will be giving more update as we work through this stay FOCUSED and POSITIVE.
