The University of Texas has canceled the controversial “Catch an Illegal Immigrant” game after public uproar.

According to “The New York Times,” the “game” was started by the local chapter of the Young Conservatives of Texas. The game’s rules were simple: select students were to walk around campus wearing “illegal immigrant” signs. The students who caught immigrants and brought them to the Young Conservatives of Texas headquarters would receive a $25 gift card.

According to the organization, the game was meant to “provoke discussion of a hot button issue.” But we think it’s clearly racist, and we’re glad that the University of Texas came to its senses and canceled the game.
