Zechariah 12:10 (New International Version)
Mourning for the One They Pierced
“And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.”
These words spoken through the prophet Zechariah speak of a time that is still yet to come. God promises that there will come a time when the majority of Israel will recognize that Jesus of Nazareth is indeed Yeshua Messiah, Jesus the Christ, her Savior, and as a result, will embrace him.
The Apostle Paul reminds us in Romans, that this will happen once the full number of Gentiles has come to belief (Romans 11:25). I look forward to the day when Israel will rejoice in her Savior, when she will know the peace that can only be found in her Lord. Until then I pray that God will continue to protect Israel from her enemies and that the United States will continue to stand with her in a world that is becoming increasingly and more overtly hostile toward her. Pray for the peace of Israel. Pray for the salvation of our Jewish brothers and sisters.
