Jokia engaged in a deep conversation with Jekalyn Carr, a close friend and a host on Praise 102.5. During the conversation, she got vulnerable and talked about her time going through a miscarriage.
The Gospel singer detailed how hard the experience was: “I went through the IVF, got pregnant, I remember declaring in 2023. I told my friend, I said 2024 I will be pregnant 2024. I remember I was in Houston, I was singing and as I’m walking up to go on the stage, as I’m wearing pants, those of y’all that know, no, those of you don’t know. It’s adult diapers. I was going through the process of miscarrying … I was embarrassed. I said, ‘God, I’m embarrassed.'”

The Texas native also shared a testimony about overcoming that obstacle with her husband and now they are expecting a baby.

“All I can say is I will rise above this. I went back to go through the IVF process and they said, you’re gonna have to pay for this when the military is not gonna pay for it. I said, ‘God, now I got to come up with the money … it was already covered, you had already covered the cost. Now, I have to pay for it.’  IVF is not cheap. So I have one more embryo left. We put the embryo in and today I’m pregnant.”
