Pastor Mike Jr. On New Christmas Music & His Family Traditions

Pastor Mike Jr., the award-winning artist, producer, and pastor, joined Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell to talk about his new Christmas single, family traditions, and exciting career developments.

His latest song, This Christmas, Just Jesus, came from a personal realization during the pandemic. “They told me I needed Christmas music for shows, but I didn’t have any,” he shared. “I went downstairs, started writing, and it came together. It’s a testimony for anyone who’s realized that material things won’t fulfill you. This year, I’m saying, ‘Just gimme Jesus, and the rest will handle itself.’”

Erica praised the song’s originality and heartfelt message, saying, “Does he ever disappoint? No, not ever!”

The McClure household is bustling during the holidays, with Pastor Mike and his wife raising five kids. “It used to be beautiful,” he joked. “But now the big boys are 17, 16, and 15, so it’s not as exciting. For the little ones, though, I can still hit Five Below with $200 and feel like a king!”

Beyond family and music, Pastor Mike is making major moves in his career. He recently launched his label, Rock City Media Group, and signed a distribution deal with Rethink Capital Records. The partnership allows him to support other artists who’ve worked with him, like his collaborator Adia. “I’m big on loyalty,” he said. “When you see people who help you, you want to turn around and help them.”

Looking ahead, Pastor Mike is dreaming big. “In five years, I want to be the My Block,” he said, referencing the iconic gospel label.
